Yakushiji Hikari Kyoya -Inori-

The "meme nippon project," which was launched to pass on Japanese culture to the next generation, held its first event, "Chapter 1: Yakushiji Hikari Kyoya -Inori- An Evening of Kabuki, Lights, and Sounds," in July 2022. The event took place at Yakushiji, a World Heritage site where prayers have been offered every day for about 1,300 years. Japanese performers, artists, and creators who are active at the forefront and have Made-in-Japan as a theme gathered there to present resonant creations using digital technology. The event included Sho-myo (Japanese Buddhist Chant) and projection mapping at the Yakushiji auditorium and a sound installation in the dining hall. WOW was in charge of producing the new Kabuki dance video for the performance.
The performance was a new Kabuki dance called "Ruriko" written by Kazuhisa Tobe and directed and choreographed by Kanzaburo Fujima. The story follows a lion, played by Shido Nakamura, who borrows the power of the Yakushi Buddha statue to restore peace to an uneasy world. The opening depicted the creation of the universe using elements such as points to lines, cell division, and the five elements (earth, water, fire, wind, and sky).
