Design Anatomy “Mechanism of milking machine”
21_21 DESIGN SIGHT｜2016
From October 14, 2016 to January 22, 2017, 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT hosted “Dissecting Design: Viewing the World Through the Objects Around You”, a project which graphic designer Taku Satoh has been working on since 2001. Dissecting familiar products from the point of view of design, this exhibit attempted to thoroughly verify the structural makeup of everyday items. The display showed the design dissection from previous years as well as 5 Meiji products created in collaboration with innovative creators from various fields.
Daihei Shibata of WOW created designs for “Meiji Oishii Gyunyu” based on a cow milking theme. Mother cows can be rather sensitive while milking as they are releasing hormones during this time and so properly adjusting the air pressure in the milker is crucial. The design materials were gathered from an actual dairy farm, making the milking process easy to imagine.
