“Kindai University i-CORE” Direction / Production
A new faculty of informatics was established at Kindai University in April 2022. WOW was in charge of the planning and production of the content of “i-CORE” which was created in the new school building. i-CORE is based on a concept that comprises “discovery,” “transmission,” and “creation,” and aims to be a place that encourages inspiration and discovery, the free expression of ideas, and interaction between students and faculty.
Outline
At present, the content produced by WOW is a prototype. The purpose of this content is to have the students update i-CORE by themselves. In order to allow the students and faculty who operate it to make further developments in the future such as adding content and expanding the system, we have made the node system and all of the content open-source.
About the content
The installed video content is combined by a network node and is played randomly. This was designed to function as a new, jointly developed platform in which every time video content produced by students and faculty is added, the content is categorized and recorded in the node system and the network of the cluster of footage that is projected onto the i-CORE wall is expanded. Regarding the addition of contents, if the data visualization method is used there won't be any restrictions on the types of video and students and faculty can freely enter it into the node. Moreover, the node system itself can be expanded if any developments are made when operating.
Furthermore, the video content produced by WOW that was installed as an example of data visualization contains prerenderings of short waves on the ocean and moon's surface and real-time renderings of the forest cover and software trends.
