NIIGATA WONDER by PLATEAU
About the Project
As part of a technical tutorial related to video production for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism-driven project "PLATEAU," WOW was tasked with planning, producing, and directing a video showcasing Niigata Prefecture. PLATEAU offers 3D models of cities across Japan as open data, facilitating digital transformation (DX) in urban planning and fostering open innovation. In this project, we utilized the 3D city model of Niigata Prefecture to create videos, tutorials, and hands-on video demonstrations, exploring creative possibilities and broaden representations using PLATEAU.
Video: NIIGATA WONDER by PLATEAU
Prompted by the appearance of a dragon, the deity of water, mysterious colossal objects materialize across various locations throughout Niigata Prefecture. These objects reveal themselves to be the renowned specialties of the region: "Tochio Aburage," "Sasadango," "Poppo-yaki," "Hegi Soba Noodles," and "Snow Crab." Guided by the dragon, these giant specialty products gradually converge at Bandai Bridge, the symbolic heart of Niigata City. By blending a 3D model of Niigata City with live-action footage and visual effects, we portrayed the city's diverse facets and distinctive features on a monumental scale in the form of a captivating "fictional promotional video."

PLATEAU
Promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in collaboration with various stakeholders, PLATEAU is a nationwide project to create digital twins of cities across Japan. The project establishes and maintains 3D city models as data platforms for urban activities and explores use cases across diverse domains. Moreover, it provides 3D city models as open data to ensure universal access to urban information. By advancing the development, utilization, and provision of open data for 3D city models, PLATEAU facilitates DX in urban planning and fosters open innovation.
