some snow scenes
Tokyo Midtown｜2023
WOW exhibited "some snow scenes" as part of MIDTOWN CHRISTMAS 2023 held in Tokyo Midtown from November 16 (Thu) to December 25 (Mon), 2023. WOW was in charge of the planning, staging, and production of the installation "some snow scenes," a whittled-down delicate winter spectacle which appeared in the atrium of the galleria.
The countless spheres designed to resemble gently drifting snow were composed of objects (white balls, crystal, acrylic) reaching about 3,400 in number, and hung from 250 lines from a height of 15m. Matching the music composed by Ayatake Ezaki which played automatically on stage, the staging of laser projectors and lighting worked together to become a spatial decoration of overlapping light and sound.
In addition to the regular staging, for this work, one of four special stagings would play every fifteen minutes. Various winter scenes were emotionally depicted, at times snow falling densely and quietly, and at times an icily dancing blizzard.
Also, WOW was in charge of the creative aspects of the interior of the building in a uniform way, including MIDTOWN CHRISTMAS 2023's logo design. The appearance of the world in the installation was reflected in the OOH decoration layout, the display inside the building, and the sales promotion posters.
On November 25 (Sat), WOW held the live installation "sonus-oleum" with Ayatake Ezaki as part of the one-night-only live performance, ROPPONGI STREET THEATER ＃04 Christmas Special.
