The new art installation is now open at Hong Kong Clock Tower
WOW magazine 219 - Nov. 7th, 2023
From November 8th to November 19th, WOW will exhibit a new art installation at the Clock Tower, symbol of Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. This artwork was created in collaboration with the local creative agency WOD for the program “ART TECH PARK” of the tech and startup event “JUMPSTARTER 2023 TECH BY THE HARBOUR” that was held in Hong Kong during the same period.
This new art installation visually expresses the energy and diversity of Hong Kong, where Eastern and Western cultures, urban and natural elements, and various races blend and continue to grow like a single lifeform.
It features a 27.2m x 5.4m fountain pool under the Clock Tower, with 42 pieces of 2 sided LED screens measuring approximately 4m in height and 76 mirrors installed. It phenomenally depicts the night view of Hong Kong's neon lights and skyscrapers, as well as nature, resembling Victoria Harbour and the towering buildings. Viewers will be immersed in a world of images where the LED screens reflect and repeat on the mirrors and the water surface of the pool, against the backdrop of the towering buildings on the opposite shore. It aims to make viewers contemplate the future of Hong Kong beyond this timeline, where boundaries such as time, society, and self and others disappear, and the surrounding landscape and oneself become one, in the realm between the concrete and the abstract.
