e-Plegona and HOTORIUM Receive Red Dot Awards, One of the World's Top Three Design Awards
WOW magazine 231 - Dec. 9th, 2024
e-Plegona won in the Design Concept category, and HOTORIUM in the Brand & Communication Design category at the prestigious German Red Dot Design Award. We extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all who contributed to the production.
Award-Winning Work: e-Plegona
Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. and Yamaha Corporation collaborated on a joint project to study the essence of inspiring experiences, central to both companies’ corporate philosophies. This research resulted in an installation art piece that allows people to experience part of their findings. WOW oversaw the entire planning and production, including experience design, visuals, sound, and system design.
This piece is experienced by two participants: one creates the source of sound (notes), while the other strikes to produce tones, creating communication through rhythm. This process attempts to abstract communication, akin to a jazz session or passing in soccer, and link it to the joy of connection. By reconstructing the mechanisms of inspiration as defined by Yamaha’s research, the installation was designed to be universally enjoyable, regardless of language or culture.

Award-Winning Work: HOTORIUM
To mark the opening of Yaskawa Mechatrec Suematsu Kyuki Corp's new headquarters, a light monument was created for the central atrium, designed to evoke the atmosphere of a riverbank where living creatures naturally gather, mimicking the organic behaviors of nature. The installation, consisting of 43 indirect lights, each 1.5 meters long, uses fractal noise patterns to capture the ever-changing character of light in the natural world. The goal was to illuminate the atrium with gentle light, fostering organic connections, creativity, and a sense of future possibilities while creating a vitality-filled space.
